Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic book on Asset protection Comment: The author managed to turn a dry subject into an interesting discussion of asset protection. There is a wealth of knowldege in this book that is actually usable and logical. The author uses actual examples of why things work and don't work and offers methods to build up your asset protection defenses. He isn't selling anything (besides the book) so it isn't a sales pitch for his "special" system. As far as Asset protection books, this one is a standout and definitely under priced for the content provided. Very well written. Customer Rating: Summary: Book is missing pages 207 through final index Comment: I bought a new, cellophane wrapped copy directly from Amazon
(not from an amazon reseller).
The book was missing pages 207 through the final index.
Printing company's error!?
Anyway, after reading page 206 on FLP's;
when you reach (what should be) page 207, it is actually a 2nd copy of page 10, INVERTED!? If you turn the book over 180 dedgrees, the remaining pages count down from page 10 to 1, pages xviiii through the front inside page.
I think the data within the book was useful enough that I could have lived with a simple page inversion.
But not when pages 207, through the end of the book, were missing!
What happened was the printer's apparently omitted pages 207 and beyond.
Then re-inserted the front pages a 2nd time; starting from the back of the book, going toward the front.
This "2nd set" of front pages repeated "most" of chapter 1:
- the front title page, contents pages, preface, acknowledgment and most of chapter 1, up to page 10.
Appears to be a somewhat major publisher/printer glitch !
Now I am wondering if a "complete" copy actually exists (or were all copies of this book experiencing the same missing pages ?)
Customer Rating: Summary: Very basic, too verbiose, USA-only view Comment: Based on previous reviews I expected more. After reading many (most?) of the books on asset protection (AP), I haven't learned much here, simply confirmed some issues. One star off ..
This book would be fine for someone who doesn't know much about AP. The book could have been shrunk to about 80-100 pages, too much fluff, the first 30 pages are just a critique (of other lawyers) and sizzle (I will show you this and that). Another star off...
Plus, for Britts and Aussies, the book only looks at AP from USA legal perspective, instead from international viewpoint. That is another star off ...
Conclusion: Waste of money. Leave this one on the shelves! Customer Rating: Summary: Great Book! but.... Comment: Very useful book but too verbiose! If the author could be a bit more succinct, this book would be an all time 5 star!
He can say what he is saying with fewer words! Customer Rating: Summary: Finally answers to questions I had been searching for! Comment: It was so refreshing to read such honest, clear information about protecting my assets. Mark Kohler helped me not only understand what I needed to do, but also gave me the confidence that I could do it! I was one of those that got scared into buying a "Bullet proof Nevada Corp" from one of those seminar companies. It was only after I spent thousands of dollars did I realize that I had wasted all my money. That event made me fearful to do anything again, especially with another "lying attorney!"
Thank you Mark for restoring my faith knowing that there is at least ONE honest attorney and also restoring faith in my ability to protect my assets for my children.
Are all Lawyers Liars? Of course not! But some lawyers are, and others who are not lawyers use that charge to sell the unsuspecting public asset protection structures or strategies that are outright lies. Until now, no other professional has been willing to call out the frauds and cheats in this powerful industry where self-professed experts and do-it-yourself hacks wreak havoc on the innocent just wanting to protect their assets. Mark Kohler exposes the liars and tells us the truth! In Lawyers are Liars, Mark explains the strategies that actually work to protect our assets and uses more than 270 footnotes to do it, quoting and referencing the true experts around the country. Undoubtedly, this book will become a desktop resource for not only the average middle income American wanting to protect his or her assets, but attorneys, estate planners and financial professionals guiding their clients through this complex area of the law.
