It is not written as one long opinion on the part of Christopher Horner. Rather, it is something like 40% to 50% quotations, showing--in the words of those about whom he is talking--what is being said by activists, politicians and scientists (in many cases "scientists" would be more appropriate...) in the area of climate. (And if you think Horner is lying, there are hundreds of references in the end notes, allowing you to check for yourself.)
The quotes are more than long enough to avert any legitimate charge of "taking out of context" (etc.).
And frankly, the things Horner points out to have been said & the positions advocated are absolutely breathtaking! I thought I knew how bad things were, but I have really had my understanding changed.
I am about 2/3 of the way through, and I find myself trying to arrange my schedule so as to spend more time with this book.
I highly recommend "Hot Lies." These blackguards are trying to take over the world (I'm not exaggerating), and strip the average individual of having any say in the matter. Don't believe me? Get hold of a copy of "Red Hot Lies," and see for yourself! Tired of losing the office debates? Get hold of a copy of "Red Hot Lies," and arm yourself. Customer Rating: Summary: Very informative Comment: Well if you give this book a good rating then you probably don't beleive everything you hear on tv and the newspapers. I'd say that's a good thing. Whether there is man-made global warming or not we may never know but we definitely never will if the mainstream debate stays so one sided. Al Gore calls it settled science and yet there is no science behind it. In fact there are very few 'scientists' behind it. These are weather people - meteorologists. They went to school to be weather people on tv. I'd hardly call that science. Which is obvious since they don't use any scientific methods to support their claims. It simply amazes me that any one would beleive anything a weather person or politician says. I live in the Northeast and can't say the weather forecast is correct more than 15% of the time. By correct I mean any where close forget about accurate. Can a weather person tell you a day in advance what the hourly temperature will be accurate to one degree? How close can the get the weather a week out? A month? A year? And yet they are absolutely certain about man made global warming? And who believes this? Hey I'm all for conservation and doing our best to protect the planet but I've never seen anything like this. Even if they are right - what will giving these people $1 Trillion dollars do? They already have admitted there is no way to stop it. In the end we all better hope they are not as wrong as they usually are and that we are headed toward global cooling because the ramifications of a cooling period are far far worse than any warming. Read the book if you want some facts. Then use your brain and don't let it be used by others. Customer Rating: Summary: Ok, so what's the alternative.... No one seems to want to touch that issue.
So we just continue business as usual? Allowing Middle Eastern Oil,
Hugo Chavez and all the other OIL Dictators to continue fleecing us controlling our economy (the Price of Oil inversely effects our economy)
, control our International Policy (Israel, Georgia, and every country in Asia that ends with --stan) controling our Politicians (we all know how
the Bush family and Cheney we connected to Oil....it's fruitless to debate that now)
GET REAL. The whole premise of this book is questionable....but now
I guess I have to read it...
All I am saying is that Global Warming is JUST ONE OF MANY ISSUES related
to why we should change our ways. Those who call the movement
"Alarmists" are just banking on YOUR fear of "Environmentalist"....can't we for once agree in this country...that we are on the wrong path ...and change without this stupid debate about who is a liar.
In this Global Warming debate, I for one choose to err on the side of
safety. I think there is enough evidence to show that we do have an effect on the envirnoment...whether it is a disaster waiting to happen?
I'll leave that up to you, but I choose to believe we need to make changes...JUST IN CASE this author is wrong.
But now I will have to read the book, because I am searching for truth, maybe there is some here?
Customer Rating: Summary: The Philosophy of Global Warming is the new Nazism. Comment: We all think that history moves forward, that we are always learning and growing better, and therefore that we know much more than our parents and grandparents.
But there is nothing unique or different about the human race in the past 60 years, no matter how much we pretend otherwise. The traits that allowed Hitler to take power in Germany are still within us -- the desire to be part of the "favored" group, the fear of being called different, or worse ignorant, the aversion to being ostracized, the danger of losing our jobs or our status.
I just watched the movie "Swing Kids", about children in pre-war Germany and the slow oppression and conversion of the German people. This movie illustrates how easy it was to convince people of lies, and to get them to oppress the jews and others in order to save themselves.
Modern environmentalism is advanced in much the same way. It's not debated, instead those who disagree are cast aside, mocked, ridiculed, and treated as enemies who must be defeated. Children are turned against their parents, the schools are part of the indoctrination process, and as the Germans outlawed "swing", the environmentalists want to take away many of the freedoms we enjoy in the name of "Global Warming".
Unfortunately for these modern-day Goebbels, too many scientists still have ethics, and the earth has inconveniently disproven their theories with a vengeance. Still the environmentalists soldier on, hoping to complete their brainwashing before it becomes clear to all that global warming is a hoax.
This book is a must-read, which is probably why you won't find it in your local library, and your children will certainly not see it in their school. Customer Rating: Summary: Enjoying the book. Comment: I haven't finished the book but it is nice to hear the other side of the global warming story.
