Since I very seldom need a thermometer and rather than purchase a high-priced digital model, I decided to get this one. So far it seems to work just fine. It has a ridge to indicate how far in to insert the thermometer rectally. It's backlit so you can read it in a dimly lit room. And it's accurate. Customer Rating: Summary: Great, simply put. Comment: I like that it folds up, takes ONLY 10 seconds to get an accurate temp and has been reliable for 1+ years. I use plastic covers over the end that I find at Walmart.
